Jane Tan Yang Qian

Jane holds an LLB (Hons) from University of London and she is a recipient of the Inspector General of Police Special Award for Criminology. She obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2015 and completed her pupillage at Messrs Shearn Delamore & Co. under the tutelage of Mr. Anand Raj. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor at High Court of Malaya in 2016.

 

Following her call to the Bar, she began her legal practice primarily focused in employment-related disputes at Messrs Bodipalar Ponnudurai De Silva where she worked with Dato’ Anand Ponnudurai, one of the leading practitioners in the industry before he was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner in November 2019. She continued to handle employment matters, contentious and non-contentious, under Mr. Alex De Silva’s leadership.

 

Jane has gained her expertise by regularly advising clients and successfully represented them as lead and/or co-counsel at the Industrial Court and civil courts in numerous cases involving unfair dismissal claims relating to misconduct, poor performance, constructive dismissal, fixed term contracts and redundancy/retrenchment. She has had the privilege of assisting lead counsel in landmark cases at the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
